The MGM Trust, which is the parent body of the MGM Institute of Health Sciences (MGMIHS), recognized the need for promoting medical education in the country so as to improve the quality of life for individuals and community by promoting health, preventing and curing diseases, advancing biomedical and clinical research and educational programmes for budding physicians and scientists. To accomplish its vision, two medical colleges were established in Maharashtra, one in Navi Mumbai in August 1989 and the other in Aurangabad in January 1990. Instituted on the principles of Gandhian philosophy, these colleges were envisaged to transform lives of people and serve the society by educating, creating knowledge and putting knowledge to work.
